Preservation of cultural and historical heritage

3D digitalization of cultural and historical heritage, with it’s scale and complex structures is a task for terrestrial laser systems.
Laser scanning surpasses the imperfections of traditional mapping methods, such as accuracy, density, time to collect information and it’s completeness.

Cultural and historical heritage includes monuments and buildings of “exceptional and universal value in terms of history, art or science”. These sites are often threatened by anthropogenic activity, the impact of environmental factors, structural instability, insufficient funding, adequate documentation, maintenance and a number of other problems.

3D digitization has a leading role in their protection, and terrestrial laser systems (TLS) provide a large number of measurements per unit time with high precision. The collaboration between hardware and software makes it possible to build a digital database that can be used to store and restore monuments. The digital database generates 2D and 3D drawings, BIM modeling, design and more.
